Current Projects

Manager for Keighley Arts and Film Festival 2019 and KAFF Intimate 2020. Full responsibility for all aspects of festival planning. Budgets, programing, artist liaison, volunteers, community engagement.

Consultant for development of Keighley Creative Space as they move towards charity status

Craven Arts House: consultant for studio provision and artists live/work scheme in Skipton.  This project is in the early stages of seeking funding and devising strategy to achieve studio and living accommodation for creatives in North Yorkshire.

Threshfield Quarry Regeneration Trust - on the board of the trust who are working to both safeguard this huge space and develop it with regard for the environment. 

Art Practice

My visual arts practice explores aspects of the natural environment. I am creating work through physical exploration, broadly covering geography, geology, scale, and change through human activity. I use sound, drawing and printmaking to record and create immersive works for exhibition.

East Street Arts

January 2013 - June 2018
Senior Project Manager with responsibility for strategic and tactical management of the national Temporary Spaces programme, comprising over 100 buildings of creative activity across England and Wales. I managed a team of 5 in the Space Team, covering both the temporary spaces programme and 4 permanent studio buildings in Leeds. The team generated substantial income for East Street Arts benefitting the core programme and supporting 19 partnership organisations and 300 artists annually who occupied the spaces for artistic use.

 

Fabric Bradford
Position: Creative Programme Manager
October 2009 to December 2012
Creating artistic programmes and audience development strategies. Designing and producing complex immersive art events and multidisciplinary activities. Building and project management of Hand Made in Bradford craft shop and arts venue and Pop Up art space in 2009.  Saltaire Arts Trail commissions and other external programming activities and events including sound walks and live events.

Regional collaborations with arts and educational organisations and member of Ways of Looking Photography Festival consortium (Bradford based)

Funding bids, budgetary control, reports and evaluations for funding bodies. Marketing both print and social media, devising marketing campaigns, press releases. 

Management of networks: The Yorkshire Photography Network and Bradford Visual Artists Network, marketing and staging events

Supervision and training of staff and volunteers to run gallery spaces and events. 

Managing of Future Jobs Fund and Inspire I programme, reports, evaluation and financial record keeping for Bradford Council, and Project managing ‘Move On Up’ a graduate transition programme for Bradford Council.

British Museum​ (1987 - 1989) Museum Exhibition Designer, design and project management of temporary and permanent exhibitions for the British Museum and Museum of Ethnography, including object interpretation and creation of interactive display elements and full gallery redisplay and refurbishment. Fine Art Printmaking practice

Specialising in collographs, etching and book making. Currently participating in projects with artists groups. Exhibited in numerous group shows; venues include The Crossley Gallery Dean Clough, Cartwright Hall, South Square Centre, and Yorkshire Craft Centre amongst others.

Grassington Arts Festival 2010 – ‘Field Day’ a staged outdoor gallery, funded by the Arts Council.
